About OVTA

Hello,

I'd like to introduce the Ogden Valley Tennis Association.  We are a non-profit created to raise funds for the upkeep of the beautiful public tennis courts that were built with RAMP funds and the generous donations of hundreds of Ogden Valley residents and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).  Tennis courts need regular maintenance including new nets, new balls, racquets, etc... There was no organization in place to provide upkeep and instruction...so the Ogden Valley Tennis Advisory Board asked for a non-profit to take over those responsibilities.  The OVTA was created. While we don't schedule the public courts or make decisions for the courts, we do provide the ongoing funding and facilitate the instruction for lessons.

We have a member of the OVTA sitting on the Ogden Valley Tennis Board, along with a member each from Liberty, Eden and Huntsville Park boards, a Weber School District member, a member of the community at large, and the principal of Snowcrest Jr. High.  This board was created at the creation of the Ogden Valley Tennis Complex, to support, make decisions for, and help manage the Tennis courts as we don't have a Recreation Department in Ogden Valley.  They are in charge of financial decisions, scheduling for public events like tournaments, public instruction times, and coordinating tasks and upkeep for the courts.

Our non profit was created to provide affordable instruction so that the sport of tennis can grow in the Ogden Valley and is available to all.  These public courts are open to everyone each day and all day, free of charge with a few posted reserved times for public tennis lessons during June and July (lessons are for every age, boys and girls, men and women),  for a day tournament that is also open to the public, and for some Jr. High instruction.  Usually, the school uses them for a couple of weeks in the Fall and Spring from 8:00am to 2:00pm. If there are no students on the court, they are open for all.

Public play is available with no time limit if no one is waiting to play. If someone is waiting to play, please limit your time to one hour. If you use them  for-profit (private instruction), please stop by the office inside Snowcrest Jr. High and pay your $3 an hour usage fee.  If people are waiting to play, please keep your private instruction to one hour.

We would like to see these courts last for many years so we would ask that you take good care of these courts and follow the rules of care as posted.
